"The definiton and The nature of curriculum"

The term “curriculum“ have various commentary on that were formulated by experts in the field of curriculum development from a long up to today. The commentary different each other, in accordance with point heavy the nucleus and in view of experts concerned. The term curriculum derived from latin, namely “curricular“ it means to the average distance someone runner. At that time, understanding curriculum is a period of time education to be followed by the students aims to obtain qualifications. In this case, the certificates to do not is a sign, that students have pursued curriculum lessons of plan, as it a runner had embarked on a distance between one to the other and ultimately achieve finish. In other words, a curriculum regarded as a bridge which is important for achieving the final point of a a journey and characterized by a procuration qualifications certain. Some other commentary on put forward the following (Hamalik, 2008:16-17).
Curriculum load the content and the subject matter. Curriculum is a number of eyes and who need to travel and studied by students to obtain a number of knowledge. The eye of the subject matter upon as experiences parents or the smart the past, that had been developed systematically and logical. Further, the term curriculum is somestimes used in a wider sense to cover the various educational activities through which the content is conveyed as well as materials used and methods employed.
Of the three that definition we can conclude that the curriculum is to the activities and learning activities planned , programmed for learners under the guidance of school , either in or external to the school .On the basis they are the curriculum operational can be defined as follows :
1.  A written material that contains a description of education programs a school conducted from year to year;
2.   Written material intended to be used in carrying out teacher instructions for her students
3.  A  business of conveying principles and the most important feature of a plan education in forms in such a way that can be implemented teachers at schools
4.  Teaching goals , learning experience , learning tools and means of assessment planned and used in education, and
5.  A program educated planned and executed to reach the purpose of education particular

That definition can be classified into two groups , namely curriculum as a program that planned and implemented in school and curriculum as a program that planned and implemented in real in the class.
          Is experts the curriculum proposes that “curriculum cover mean , the purpose , the contents of , the process , resources , And means evaluation for all learning experience planned for the learning facility at home and outside school and the people through teaching classes and the programs related to “.And then limit “ syllabus as a statement of a plan for any part curriculum the exclusion of element evaluation curriculum it self, A syllabus let seen in the context of the process of development curriculum ongoing “ ( robertson 1971: 584; shaw 1977 in tarigan , 1993: 5 ) .

Other characteristics of curriculum especially stated curriculum i.e. as follow .
a.    curriculum have to being flexible , it is easily converted to to perfection, in accordance with needs and progress in science.
b.    curriculum is a description or a description of a plan or program that will be implemented
c.    curriculum usually containing about various field of study (areas of learning).
d.    curriculum can is for a students or arranged for a group that large.
e.    curriculum always relating to or constituting program from an institution (educational the centre) .
